How do we Assess Residual Risk in Sexual Offenders?
There are several well studied, valid and reliable measures to assess risk in contact sexual offenders.
These risk assessment measures are based on static variables and predict risk at the time the person is released from incarceration. The risk assessment is based on a moment in time and if a person remains offense free in the community for a certain period of time, the estimate of risk at the time of release has, in essence, “expired.”
