Overview

Data driven look at 5-year and newly available 10-year data points on recidivism using the Static-99R. Covers both contact and non-contact sexual offenders.

Summary

The Static-99R is an actuarial based method to estimate risk of recidivism for individuals who have been charged and or convicted of certain types of sexual crimes.

The recidivism rates were last updated in 2016.  At that time, there was only enough data to reliably estimate 5-year recidivism rates. The authors were unable to provide enough data to make reliable 10-year recidivism estimates.

Static-99R: The Study

The current study, published in 2021, fills the gap, providing 10-year estimates as well as updating the 5-year estimates based on the most up to date data.
